Syria Relief & Development (SRD) built healthcare centers in northern Syria in response to numerous waves of displacement and medical equipment shortages. Al-Basuta Health Center was established to address the medical needs of the community in Al-Basuta Camp and the surrounding villages. The location was strategically chosen to serve this population, since 60% of the people there are displaced, and there is a lack of healthcare.
The center operates an in-house clinic and children’s clinic, as well as a first-aid department and pharmacy. Over 2,000 people are served by Al-Basuta each month.
“Over 75% of this population has access to free medicine,” said Wael Al-Youssef, Al-Basuta’s pharmacist. “Follow-ups and chronic disease care have made a significant impact on these people.”
