“They taught us the alphabet and how to read and write, which enabled us to deal with everyday issues like writing the things we needed and helping our children with their education,” said one of the literacy program participants at Balsam Center. The literacy program works to increase participants’ knowledge of their own self-value. The center also offers crucial life skills and non-formal education programs. There are a number of programs that support the displaced women and girls.
SRD’s Balsam Center is regarded as one of the most important centers for women’s empowerment in northern Syria.
