Every child should have the right to grow up and receive an education in a safe environment. In response to the negative impact the war has had on Syrian children, Syria Relief & Development launched the Ahlan Simsim project two years ago.
The project started in two areas: Abin Samaan in the western countryside of Aleppo, and Termanin in the Dana area of Idlib’s countryside. Not long after, it was extended to the city of Al-Bab in Aleppo’s countryside.
The Ahlan Simsim project provides families with the necessary skills to help their children develop properly within their environment. The parenting skills program includes seven sessions:
- Early age brain development
- Holistic development
- Empathy
- Positive discipline
- Psychological stress for adults and children
- Managing psychological stress
- Positivity and having fun
The children’s program offers six sessions for ages 3-8, which include activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
