SRD MOURNS LOSS OF MEDICAL STAFF MEMBER KILLED IN AERIAL ATTACK
Washington, DC (March 17, 2017) -– On Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 6 pm in the Altarib District of Aleppo, Syria Relief and Development (SRD) staff member Khadouj Abdelgafoor—who served as a pharmacist in one of SRD’s Primary Health Care Clinics—was killed when her home was hit during aerial strikes. Abdelgafoor’s only daughter also died in the attack.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Abdelgafoor’s family and her loved ones. SRD condemns, in the strongest terms possible, the indiscriminate killing of civilians in conflict.
Syria Relief and Development (SRD) was founded in November 2011 in response to the humanitarian crisis inside Syria that occurred as a result of conflict. Since then, SRD has worked to provide food security, health care, nutrition, protection, shelter and more to Syrian families in need. SRD continues to work inside Syria and in neighboring Jordan to help meet the needs of the Syrian people.
