SRD Foundation and IUSR University Mourn the Loss of Dr. Hassam Al-Ali 

 Aleppo, Syria – December 1, 2024: With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Dr. Hassam Al-Ali, a renowned physician, professor of medicine, and humanitarian, who tragically lost his life during a medical mission in Aleppo. Dr. Al-Ali was leading a team of 10 volunteer EMTs and doctors, delivering critical care to those affected by the ongoing conflict, when he was killed in an airplane missile attack. Following the attack, his colleagues and students found him amidst the devastation and made heroic efforts to save his life. Despite their valiant attempts, the severity of his injuries proved insurmountable. In honor of his legacy, his team has vowed to continue their lifesaving work. 

Dr. Al-Ali dedicated his life to healing and teaching, serving as a compassionate medical practitioner and a mentor to countless students at IUSR University. His influence lives on through the many lives he touched and the students he inspired to carry forward his mission of service and empathy. His loss is deeply mourned by his family, including his wife and children, as well as his colleagues, students, and the countless individuals who benefited from his expertise and kindness.

His courage and dedication to providing care, even in the most dangerous circumstances, will forever inspire us. He gave his life doing what he believed in most: helping those in need, regardless of the risks.” 

At the time of his passing, Dr. Al-Ali and his team were actively treating patients during the liberation of Aleppo. His work in such perilous conditions exemplified the highest ideals of the medical profession. IUSR University and SRD Foundation extend their heartfelt condolences to Dr. Al-Ali’s family, friends, and all who knew him. In his memory, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing the vital work he championed, bringing hope and healing to those in need.
