The Systematic Targeting of Healthcare Personnel and Facilities

According to Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), from 2011 through June 2022, PHR corroborated 601 attacks on at least 400 separate medical facilities and documented the killing of 945 medical personnel.

Chemical Weapon Attacks

Syria has reported at least one chemical attack every year since 2013, when numerous lethal gas attacks occurred in Aleppo, Idleb, and the outskirts of Damascus. These attacks cause urgent, large-scale health emergencies. Accessing medical supplies and medications becomes nearly impossible for healthcare personnel trying to save lives.

Al Ferdous Maternity and Children's Hospital - On February 17, 2020

airstrikes hit SRD’s Al Ferdous Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Daret Ezzeh, leaving 200,000 people in need of medical care.

Idlib - On April 4, 2017

Chemical assault in Idlib left 89 people dead, including 33 children, and hundreds more injured. 178 people who had inhaled chemical gas were treated at SRD hospitals. Most of the patients had respiratory failure.

Our NFI kits include essential items like blankets, clothing, and hygiene products. They are designed to help survivors endure the harsh conditions they face, and to help restore some dignity to their lives. Urgent Emergency Earthquake Response in Turkey and Syria

UPDATE: Thanks to your out pouring of support we’ve surpassed our first two goals, and have now increased our goal to $150,000.

Two massive earthquakes, measuring 7.8 and 7.7 on the Richter scale have hit Northwest Syria and Turkey in the span of a few hours. The epicenter of the first was in Gaziantep, where SRD’s Turkey country office is based.

SRD’s first responders are on the ground, our 20 ambulances have been deployed to serve those critically injured. Several hospitals in the region have been impacted by the earthquake, including Jandaris hospital.

As communities who have been responding to the crisis are now affected, we need your support to continue delivering life-saving services.
